We are pleased to share a very nice review in Songlines with you!
Songlines is a well-known and influential world music magazine from Great Britain, with a world wide audience. In the new edition the album of Ensemble Tirana is reviewed:
‘the core of the repertoire remains the polyphonic song of the south, from the gently mournful song of emigration ‘Mora Rrugen për Janine’, wherein the steadily controiled vibrato of the leading voice betrays the group’s origin in Tirana s Opera chorus, to the deep concentration of the tragic ‘Mbegè more Shoke, Mbeqd’, and this is where they really shine. All in all, it’s a fine, polished overview of the riches of Albanian polyphonic song, and a good place to start listening to this rich and inspiring music.’
